The IUCT Oncopole designated once again for early phase trials

The National Cancer Institute (INCa) has renewed the designation of the ICR Clinical Research Unit for  early phase clinical research *, led by Prof. Jean-Pierre Delord. This designation covers the period 2014 -2019.

* Early trials include Phase I and Phase II trials.

Phase I trials are designed to evaluate a new drug (or drug combination) to determine the recommended administration dose; they are proposed only when no existing treatment is entirely satisfactory. Phase II trials essentially measure the efficacy of a new treatment method (a drug or a new combination of drugs).

The Medical Oncology Department

The department deals with breast, gynecological and ENT cancers, melanomas, sarcomas, cancers of unknown primaries and rare tumors.

The department has 60 conventional hospital beds, including 12 palliative care beds, and 45 day hospital places, i.e. an accommodation capacity of 98 patient days to respond to the development of outpatient care.
