Management of hereditary cancers
The IUCT Oncopole offers oncogenetic consultations for breast, ovarian and colorectal cancers*. They are intended for patients who developed cancer at an early age and/or who have a family history of cancer, and for cancer-free persons with a family history of cancer. You can request an appointment on your own initiative or be referred by a physician.
Consultation
A physician specialized in oncogenetics examines the patient's family tree to determine if the family meets the criteria for being considered high-risk. If this is the case, the patient is offered a genetic assessment.
Genetic analysis
Molecular analyses are performed on a blood sample to determine whether the person is or is not carrier of a mutation on a gene involved in one of the three diseases.
Depending on the results, a personalized monitoring program may be initiated.
